Chemical Engineering Careers Page

The Chemical Engineering program strives to prepare students for productive careers in industry or government and also provides students with a solid foundation for graduate studies. The Bioengineering program empowers students with broad preparation for pursuing careers related to biotechnology, biomedical and other engineering fields. The Department of Chemical Engineering offers students B.S.M.Eng.M.S., and Ph.D. degrees. Some graduates start their career in industry whereas others choose to go on to graduate school to specialize and obtain advanced degrees in diverse fields such as biochemical engineering, biomedical engineering, materials science, management, patent law, etc.

The need to find alternative fuels to meet increasing energy demand while maintaining environmental sustainability will continue to require the expertise of chemical engineers in oil- and gas-related industries. In addition, the integration of chemical and biological sciences and rapid advances in innovation will create new areas in biotechnology and in medical and pharmaceutical fields for them to work in.
