Bioremediation

A UNH Environmental Engineering student has garnered national recognition for her research on the bioremediation of contaminated groundwater. U.S. Air Force Second Lieutenant Maureen Lewis presented her work in Washington.

A UNH Electrical Engineering student won second place at the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Region 1 annual conference. Nathan Purmort presented a paper he wrote for Project54, the high-tech police cruiser designed by UNH.

David NobletPeer-to-peer computing

A UNH Computer Science student conducted a performance study of software created by Sun Microsystems for building peer-to-peer applications. David Noblet's research--presented at the Fifth International Workshop on Global and Peer-to-Peer Computing--helped him earn Caltech’s prestigous Gordon Moore Fellowship

Hole to HellApril Hyde

Three Earth Sciences students traveled to the “Hole to Hell,” an area of intense
hydrothermal activity off the coast of Mexico. April Hyde, Kimberly Beers and
Christopher Waters saw “black smokers,” colonies of giant clams and waving masses of gigantic
tube worms.
