Beyond the Lab
UNH science and engineering professors and students are on the go, posing questions and pursuing solutions to some of society's most pressing problems.
- Thanks to UNH's Pollution Prevention Internship Program, Chemical Engineering students are helping New Hampshire companies develop pollution-prevention techniques--and save hundreds of thousands of dollars.
- Electrical Engineering Technology students are sharing their expertise with the engineers of tomorrow, teaching principles of energy tracking and reduction to elementary and high school students.
- Communities in pursuit of safe drinking water turn to UNH's Water Treatment Technology Center as a resource for testing and demonstration of innovative technologies, such as the new portable water testing unit. Now large cities around the world may benefit from a new UNH-led international study of water purification using ultraviolet light. UNH graduate students are working on both projects.
- The advantages of high-performance concrete are being put to the test in a new bridge in Bristol, New Hampshire, designed with the help of UNH civil engineers.
