The long awaited Kingsbury renovation and construction project gets underway in earnest this summer. Below foundation for the new wingyou will find updates useful for faculty, students, staff and visitors to Kingsbury during the multi-phase project, which is anticipated to be completed in 2007. Construction updates, as well as a comments box, can also be found on a bulletin board in the center wing, just off the lobby.(Photo courtesy of Robert Henry)

Access

Safety for all requires that access to the site be limited and, if someone must be on site, Skanska know who it is and where that person is expected to be. It is imperative that no one be on site who is not identified and expected.

demolition of the "tin building" Skanska has a sign-in book in their office on the first floor of Kingsbury. The uniform of the day for anyone on site is a hard hat, eye protection and closed-toe, solid shoes or boots.

Skanska has converted two former men's bathrooms to women's rooms to replace bathrooms now closed for construction. They are in rooms A116 and 305.

The rear parking lot of Kingsbury was closed June 5 for demolition and construction. Deliveries must now come through the main entrance to Kingsbury on College Road. The -pedestrian accessPhilbrook lot is also closed. The walkway between Parsons and Kingsbury has been closed and the walkway between Kingsbury and Morse may also be closed. Signs will be posted to idicate alternate pedestrian accesses.

New Kingsbury access rampA new access ramp for those with disabilities has been constructed at the main entrance to Kingsbury and an automatic door installed. Parking for those with disabilities is available adjacent to the ramp.

access roadCollege Road will be closed to vehicles July 19 - August 6 and August 16 - 31 while Skanska installs underground utilities. A walkway will allow pedestrians to get around the ongoing work. Delivery trucks and those with disabilities can access the main Kingsbury entrance via the access road between Rudman and Morse.

A Limited Access-Limited Use (LULA) lift has been installed in one of the center stairwells to allow access for those with disabilities while the elevator is closed for asbestos abatement.
