Scholarships

Morgan O'Neill, a physics major and honors student going into her junior year at UNH, spent the summer conducting research at the Space Research Center in Warsaw, Poland. Her work on the Interstellar Boundary Explorer Star Sensor, which will launch in June 2008, began the summer after her freshman year and will culminate with her senior thesis. Each year, the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences awards many scholarships to its students. These awards of several hundred to several thousand dollars honor the recipients and are normally applied to tuition for the following year. Various benefactors of the college, often CEPS alumni, have established endowments that fund these scholarships.

In addition to the CEPS-Industry scholarships, CEPS students are eligible for nearly 100 different scholarships funded by the generous support of alumni, industry and professional groups. While some are based on financial need, many are based on merit alone. Others are targeted to specific fields or N.H. residents. Find out which ones you qualify for!

Every scholarship has a unique set of criteria designated by the benefactor. The criteria can be broad (e.g., student in good standing) or more narrow (e.g., married student with an impressive academic record). Other factors that may be considered include: campus involvement, place of residence, and leadership ability, as well as many others. Most awardees are continuing full-time students with a G.P.A. of at least 3.0.

To be eligible for an award, and to ensure that students are matched appropriately with scholarships, students must complete a scholarship application (forthcoming mid December). If you still have questions about this process, please see your department advisor. Meanwhile to view a brief description of each scholarship click here.
